Patrick Topping recruits Magnus Kermack for ‘Subaru Birds’ on Trick this November.
Magnus Kermack is a rising DJ/producer based in Scotland. Previously releasing ‘Subaru Birds’ on Fresh Take Records as part of the label’s ‘Home Deliveries’ VA in 2020, the track caught the ear of Trick label boss Patrick Topping, and it now sees a wider release alongside a remix from Leeds’ Danny Bond and a fresh original.
Leading the release, the original mix of ‘Subaru Birds’ sees twinkling keys, colourful synths, and soaring vocals combine for an emotive and uplifting track, before Danny Bond’s Bassline-tinged remix flips the original into a festival tent-filler. Rounding out the release is ‘The Wasps’, which sees text-to-speech samples spar with fluttery vocal samples for a high-energy closer to the EP.
